Volleyball Signs Saxby to NLI

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball coach Karen Glover announced the signing of Lauren Saxby (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) to a National Letter of Intent. Saxby will begin playing for the Catamounts in the 2013 season.

Saxby comes to Western Carolina as a three-time Cap-8 Conference champion, earning three varsity letters during her career at Wakefield. The 5-10 outside hitter was named all-conference her junior and senior years. The Raleigh Sports Club also honored her as Player of the Week during her senior season.

Saxby excelled in the classroom as well as she is a member of the Science Honor Society, English Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and the Beta Club. She earned the Lamp of Knowledge and Greenhand Awards as well while earning a spot on the A/B Honor Roll throughout high school.

Saxby played club volleyball for the Triangle Volleyball Club where the team finished as semifinalists in the 2012 Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic while also earning Spring 2011 All-Region for the Carolina Region.

"We are excited to have Lauren join our program," said head coach Karen Glover. "She is a dynamic hitter who I think will bring a lot of energy to our team."
