SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Western Carolina volleyball player Katie Hennessey was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Wednesday by the league office. Hennessey, a sophomore setter, has a 3.78 grade point average.
Hennessey, a native of North Richland Hill, Texas, had one of her strongest outings of the season recording the third triple double of her career against Elon, Saturday. She had 10 kills, 11 digs and a season-high 54 assists. Against UNC Greensboro she had 30 assists. In three matches, last week, she tallied 103 assists, 19 kills, five block assists, six service aces and 23 digs.
The Catamounts play at Appalachian State on Friday. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
