ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Western Carolina's Christy Attebery was selected as the Southern Conference's Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played through October 15.
A senior outside hitter from Las Vegas, Nev., Attebery helped the Lady Catamounts to a perfect 2-0 record last week, including a win over mountain-rival Appalachian State as well as maintaining a perfect record at home with a win over Winthrop.
In the victory at Appalachian State, Attebery set three career bests. She had five service aces and posted a .619 attack percentage, both career-highs. She also finished the night without a hitting error for the first time in her career. She had 13 kills against the Mountaineers.
Attebery had a double-double versus Winthrop, tallying 21 kills and 16 digs. On the week, she had 34 kills (4.86 average per game) with eight errors in 67 total attacks for a .338 hitting percentage. Attebery served nine aces and had 23 digs in the pair of wins.
