Student-Athlete Roundtable Podcast with Minogue, Lysik and Stoltz
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina volleyball (2-11) enters Southern Conference play this weekend hosting UNC Greensboro on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Elon at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Ramsey Center. Also, make sure to check out Catamount freshmen Carrie Minogue, Rebecca Stoltz and Brittany Lysik on the Student-Athlete Roundtable podcast hosted by women’s basketball players Heather Swayne and Jessica Jackson.
The Catamount volleyball team is coming off a pair of wins at the Catamount Clash last weekend, getting their first wins of the season. The club also placed second in its home tournament.
Western Carolina is led by the trio of freshmen Stoltz, Minogue and Lysik. Minogue and Lysik each have eclipsed the 100 kills plateau this season, with Minogue leading the team with 103 kills (2.40 kills per game) and Lysik following with 101 (2.35 kills per game). Stoltz is becoming a blocking machine averaging 0.67 blocks per game.
Junior setter Katie Hennessey is enjoying success getting the ball to the youthful heavy hitters averaging 7.74 assists per game. Fellow junior libero Liz Rondone is averaging 4.88 digs per game.
UNC Greensboro comes into the match Saturday having already played its first Southern Conference match of the season, defeating Appalachian State 3-1. The Spartans are bringing a record of 9-5 and 1-0 in the SoCon. The club is lead by Branagn Fuller who is averaging 2.92 kills per game.
