WCU's George Earns SoCon Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Honors

George became the third Catamount to earn SoCon honors this season.

Cullowhee, N.C. - Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina middle blocker Addy George was named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for week four of the season as announced by the league office Monday.

George recorded 2.22 blocks per set on her way to all-tournament honors at the Carolina Classic over the weekend. George paced the Catamounts with two blocks in a 3-0 loss to South Carolina and three blocks in a sweep of Presbyterian. She set a Western Carolina record with 15 block assists in the Catamounts 3-0 sweep of Robert Morris, and finished the weekend with 20 total blocks.

George now leads the SoCon in blocks with 55 and blocks per set with 1.42, good enough for 12th in the NCAA.

She is the third Catamount this season to pick up the weekly honors as junior Jordan Timmermann and senior Morgan Cochran took home offensive and defensive honors from week three of the season.

WCU is off to a 10-4 start to the season entering SoCon play with rival Appalachian State visiting the Ramsey Center Thursday at 7 p.m.
