Western Carolina Volleyball Hosts UNC Asheville in First Home Match of Season

Sept. 15, 2008

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball (0-9) hosts its first home-match of the season at 7 p.m. Tuesday welcoming mountain rival UNC Asheville (5-6) in the Ramsey Center.

The Catamounts hold a 23-16 advantage over the Bulldogs in the two club's 39 meetings. Last season, WCU snapped a three-match losing streak to UNC Asheville at its home tournament.

Junior Amanda Kerr notched a career-high 13 kills against William & Mary this past weekend and earned All-Tournament honors at the Hilton/RTP Wolfpack Classic while freshman Brittany Lysik extended her streak of double figure digs to three with 14 against William & Mary.

Lysik leads the Catamounts with 73 kills, averaging 2.43 kills per game. Fellow freshman Carrie Minogue closely follows Lysik with 60 kills and averaging 2.0 kills per game. Junior libero Liz Rondone currently has 1,486 digs in her career and ranks third in the Catamount record books and needs just 183 to move into third place.
