CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball opens its home slate of matches on Tuesday when the Catamounts host non-conference foe Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. in the Ramsey Center.
The 3-7 Catamounts are coming off a grueling tournament at Georgia Tech, last weekend, where they faced some of their toughest competition to date playing Georgia Tech, Georgia, Kentucky and Arizona. Though Western Carolina went 0-4 in the tournament, it had many positives.
"I was very happy with the intensity and mental toughness of the players," said Head Coach Stephanie Dragan. "It will be very exciting to come home and build on what we have learned on the road."
Garnder-Webb enters the match with a 6-5 record and the Bulldogs are riding a five-match winning streak. Gardner-Webb won its tournament last weekend, defeating Davidson in the championship match for the first time in school history.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and Western Carolina students get in free with their CatCard. The match is also the first event for the Go Girls campaign, promoted by the Western Carolina Women's Center. The first 25 people in the door will receive free cotton candy.
