Anna Vallinch Joins Western Carolina Volleyball as Assistant Coach

Aug. 25, 2008

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina Head Volleyball Coach Stephanie Dragan, today, announced the addition of Anna Vallinch as an assistant coach for the Catamount volleyball team.

"I am very excited to welcome Anna on the volleyball staff," Dragan said. "She is bringing a lot of energy and a sassy defensive mentality to the program."

She comes to Western Carolina after spending 2007 as an assistant coach at Bryan High School. She also spent a year as the head coach of the Sunset West Volleyball Club.

Vallinch played three years at Clemson University as a libero/defensive specialist. In her first season with Clemson, she broke the school record for digs in a season (620) and digs per game (5.04). As a junior she tied the Clemson record for digs in a match with 36. Prior to Clemson, Vallinch spent one season at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

"She will work a lot with the defenders and work with the players on serve receive," Dragan said. "I am excited she will take over these areas."

In 2007, Vallinch earned a BA in sociology at Clemson University.
