Preseason. Check.

Now classes begin…wait, what?

Just when we thought the craziness of preseason was finally over, the craziness of classes, homework, papers and exams begins! Yay! (hint of sarcasm if you couldn’t tell).

No worries, though, because just like how we are determined to work hard on the court, we work even harder in the classroom. Our goal is to raise our GPAs and get good grades all around. After all we are STUDENT-athletes and academics is our main concern.

Before classes even started, we had an intrasquad scrimmage at the Ramsey Center last weekend. We were extremely pleased with the turnout we got because the fans are what make the games special and fun for us. It was great to get back out on the court and play an actual game. It helped us out a lot because it helped get rid of some of the first game jitters.

I’m sure we will put a stop to those jitters for our first home tournament this weekend! This Friday and Saturday, August 24-25, we will be playing Northern Kentucky, St. Peters and North Carolina A&T. I can say that everyone is beyond excited to get the season going this weekend. We can all feel it in the air that this year is going to be a good year.

We’ve put blood, sweat and tears into everything we have on the court. Everyone will see what we got this upcoming tournament. We always have to remember “Clear eyes, Full hearts, Can’t lose.” We play as a team and stay together as a team.

Come out and support the volleyball team this Friday and Saturday. Hope to see you this “Whee”kend! GO CATS!
