CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina Head Volleyball Coach announced today the hiring of Talia Ogle as an assistant coach to complete her staff.

"From the moment I stepped onto campus for my interview I knew Western Carolina was where I wanted to be," Ogle said. "I am so thankful to Coach [Stephanie] Dragan for giving me this opportunity."

Ogle comes to Cullowhee from the University of Texas Pan American where she spent one season with the Broncs. Her primary responsibilities for UTPA was working with the outside hitters and defensive specialists. She also served as the academic advisor, camp director and travel coordinator.

"I am extremely excited to add Talia to the staff," Dragan said. "She has an outgoing personality and great outlook on life. She is driven in everything that she does and is a good role model for our team. Talia has a tremendous enthusiasm for the sport of volleyball and coaching."

Ogle will primarily be working with the Catamount outside hitters and defensive specialists.

"Talia excelled at both positions in college and has a "scrappy" defensive philosophy that she will bring to the Catamounts," Dragan Said. "Our athletes are excited to learn from her."

Ogle was a standout for UNC Asheville where she helped the Bulldogs reach the Big South Conference Championship Game during her senior campaign. A team captain that season, she finished third on the team in digs with 380 and concluded her career in a Bulldog uniform with 1,119 career digs. Ogle graduated in December of 2005 from UNC-Asheville with a bachelor's degree in English.

"I am really excited to be back in the mountains and to get started preparing for the fall," Ogle said. "Coach Dragan has created a positive atmosphere and family environment within this program and I am excited to contribute and be a part of it."

After completing her eligibility at UNCA, Ogle spent a season on the Bulldog coaching staff. She was responsible for the development of the Bulldogs' outside hitters and defensive players on the court while handling several administrative areas for the UNC-Asheville program. The former Bulldog standout was responsible for scheduling, equipment management, film exchange and travel arrangements while assisting in the development of practices and conditioning program.
