Glover, WCU Volleyball Inks Four for 2014

Cullowhee, N.C. - Head Western Carolina volleyball coach Karen Glover has announced the addition of Kaycey Cermin, Katie O'Connor, Reeve Reinsborough and Jo-Leigh VerVelde to the 2014 edition of the Catamounts.

Cermin is a 6'1 middle blocker from A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas. She led her team to a 31-11 record, co-district champions and area finalist during her senior year. All told her teams were a two-time area finalist and three time district champions. During her sophomore season, she was named all-district honorable mention. She went on to claim first team all-district and Honorable Mention honors during her junior year, and was named Special Recognition her senior season. On the club volleyball scene, she was a four-time Junior National Championship qualifier and was a Big South 16 American Champion in 2011. Academically, she earn academic all-district honors three times, was a National Honors Society member and an AP Scholar Award winner. She also competed in track & field during the spring in the shot put and discus.
O'Connor is a 6'1" middle blocker from Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia. She was named Bartow All-County Rookie of the Year her freshman season and went on to named Bartow All-County Most Valuable Player during her junior and senior seasons. She was twice named Cartersville High School's Most Valuable Player. Her club team, the Atlanta Crush 18s won the Peachtree Classic.
Reinsborough is a 5'9" libero/defensive specialist from Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas. She led her team to the TAPPS 4A State Playoffs all four seasons including twice as a semi-finalist. During her freshman year, she was earned TAPPS 4A All-District Honorable Mention. Following her sophomore season she earned TAPPS 4A All-District Second Team member her junior year and upgraded her honors to TAPPS 4A All-State Honorable Mention accolades her junior year. She played for the Elite Black Victory Volleyball club team.
Vervelde is a 5'10" setter and outsider hitter from Oostburg High School in Oostburg, Wisconsin. During her junior season she led Ootsburg to a 44-4 record and the teams third WIAA Division 3 State Championship. Her senior year, she was named the Sheboygan Press All-Area Player of the Year and led her team to the fourth straight state championship. She also claimed First Team All-Central Lakeshore Conference and First Team All-State honors. On a national scale, was named to MaxPreps 2013 Volleyball Small Schools All-American First Team as an all-around player. She led the state of Wisconsin in service aces during her junior and senior seasons.

The four players will enroll at WCU in fall of 2014 and play for the Catamounts on the court during the 2014-15 season.
