Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina volleyball team wrapped the competition portion of its spring schedule, winning both matches it hosted in the Ramsey Center Auxiliary Gymnasium on Saturday. The Catamounts claimed a straight-set victory, 3-0, over Lynchburg College before downing Gardner-Webb, 3-1, in the afternoon session.

Returning sophomores Addy George and Jordan Timmermann stood out offensively for the Purple & Gold on the day, with freshman Tina Nazario turning in a solid performance setting.

"Overall, the team played very well today," said head coach Karen Glover. "I was pleased with the offense outings of Addy (George) and Jordan (Timmermann). Tina (Nazario did a nice job distributing the offense."

She added, "We've worked on a lot this spring especially on the defensive side and I was really pleased how the team stepped up defensively today. We really want to thank the fans who came out today - we appreciate the support."

Saturday's tournament was the third for the Catamounts this spring season. WCU also competed in a tournament at the University of Tennessee back on April 6 and traveled to Gardner-Webb for a four-team event on April 13.

Western Carolina concludes its spring workouts - which began in late February - next week on-campus.
