Sylva, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's volleyball team volunteered their time at the Community Table of Sylva. The Community Table is a place where people in need may obtain a free meal.

With flour on their faces and calluses on their hands from the day's labor of making biscuits and peeling potatoes, the Lady Catamounts served and prepared the meals at the Community Table. "It was a learning experience about the community," women's volleyball player Chrissy Harrison. "It felt good to be able to give back and help out." "This was a very positive experience for the Lady Cats as well as for the community of Sylva," women's volleyball Cindy Camp. "It is always nice to be able to contribute what we can to our mountain community."

"Our student-athletes chose on their own to support the Community Table to be involved in the community and, more importantly, help make a difference in the area," Athletic Director Jeff Compher said. "We will do anything we can to keep the Community Table up and running because it benefits so many who rely on the service. The student-athletes and our athletic department want to see the Community Table succeed."
