BOONE, N.C. - Western Carolina volleyball (6-22, 3-11 SoCon) fell on the road at Appalachian State (6-22, 2-12) 3-1 (26-24, 16-25, 15-25, 21-25) Wednesday in mid-week Southern Conference action.

The Catamounts opened the match taking an early 1-0 lead taking game one. Both clubs battled in game one and with the game tied at 24 a bad set by the Mountaineers and a kill by freshman Rebecca Stoltz secured the win for Western Carolina.

Appalachian State took advantage of the anemic offense of Western Carolina in the remaining games. The Catamounts had a -.148 attack percentage in game two and had .000 in games three and four.

For the match, Western Carolina hit .025 with 26 kills as a team and 23 errors. Junior setter Katie Hennessey recorded a season-high 18 digs in the match and also led the club with six kills.

Western Carolina will host its final home matches of the season Saturday and Sunday welcoming Samford and Chattanooga. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in both contests.
