Final Stats

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina volleyball team (20-8) defeated Elon University (6-20), 3-1 in Reid Gymnasium Saturday night to mark their 20th victory of the season.

The two teams battled in games one and two with Western winning the first 30-21 and Elon winning the second 30-28. WCU came back in game three and never trailed for the remainder of the match. The Cats took games three and four handily, 30-17 and 30-19, respectively.

Freshman Stefanie Peters led the match with 19 kills while hitting .231 (19-7-52). Sara Komosinski and Michelle Gorton recorded double-doubles for the team. Komosinski put down 17 kills and notched 19 digs. Gorton marked a career high 15 kills and 14 digs on the night.

Western Carolina will travel to Wofford, Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 pm. The Cats will return home to round out their regular season Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11 with College of Charleston and The Citadel. Both matches will start at 2:00 pm. Western is currently only two matches behind College of Charleston in the Southern Conference standings.
