Western Carolina Volleyball Battles, Falls to Wofford 3-1

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Western Carolina volleyball (4-18, 2-7 SoCon) battled back from an 0-2, winning game three, and forcing a gave four but couldn't get past the Wofford Terriers (12-10, 1-6 SoCon) Saturday falling 3-1 (18-25, 23-25, 26-24, 20-25).

After falling behind 0-2 to start the match, Western Carolina avoided a 3-0 shutout by taking game three after halftime. The Catamounts had a .000 hitting percentage in game one and improved with a .275 in game two and took game three thanks to a .306 hitting percentage.

Trailing from the start of game three, the Catamounts battled until the club tied the game at 20. Western Carolina took its first lead thanks to a kill by Amanda Kerr. The Terriers tied the game at 23 and again at 24 before a pair of Wofford errors gave the Catamounts the game.

Kerr led the team with 14 kills and also had seven digs. Katie Hennessey added 35 assists and freshman Brittany Lysik had 15 digs.

The Catamounts have a two-match home stand starting Friday hosting College of Charleston at 7 p.m. Saturday Western Carolina welcomes The Citadel also at 7 p.m.
