Harmon Has Balanced Attack in Western Carolina Volleyball Loss

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Senior Meredith Harmon had nine kills, three digs and two solo blocks in Western Carolina volleyball's (7-14, 2-4 SoCon) 3-0 (30-23, 30-17, 30-12) loss to Furman (12-4, 5-1 SoCon) Friday.

After getting off to a slow start in game one, the Catamounts battled back to keep the game close. Down 13-8, Western Carolina went on a 4-1 run to pull within two (14-12). A pair of kills by Meredith Harmon and miscues by Furman helped the Catamounts go in the run. Western Carolina pulled within one (15-14) thanks to a Harmon service ace but Furman went on a 5-0 run to push the game out of reach.

Western Carolina hit .194 in game one but couldn't maintain the momentum hitting just .027 in game two and -.217 in game three. Overall, Western Carolina hit .031 in the match and had 29 kills and 26 errors.

Freshman Ali Rook had eight kills in the match and sophomore Katie Hennessey had six to go along with 20 assists.

The Catamounts continue their road swing Saturday when the club travels to Wofford. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
