Final Stats

Greensboro, NC - Western Carolina hit .366 over four games to hand UNC Greensboro a 3-1 loss in Southern Conference volleyball action this afternoon in Fleming Gym. The Lady Catamounts won by scores of 30-21, 30-7, 24-30, and 30-13 to stay in third place in the conference at 5-1, and moved to 8-6 overall.

Western Carolina was running away with the match early, winning the first game 30-21, then breezing past the Spartans 30-7 in the second. Holding a 10-5 lead in game two, the Lady Cats put the game away as they ran off 16 unanswered points to take a 26-5 advantage.

The Spartans rallied in game three, as they broke an 8-8 tie with three straight points, and never trailed again in a 30-24 victory. Western Carolina clamped down on any comeback attempts in game four. With the Lady Cats up 8-6, they outscored the Spartans 13-2 for a 21-8 lead, and moved on to the game four win.

For the Lady Cats, Christy Attebery recorded a match-high 17 kills, along with 13 digs. Also for Western Carolina, Pamela Stein finished with 15 kills, Sara Komosinski added 11 kills, and Stefanie Peters posted 10 kills and 10 digs. Bri Milan-Williams registered 48 assists and 13 digs.

WCU will host Wofford, Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm. The match that was origionally scheduled to be in Reid Gym has been moved to the Ramsey Center.
