Western Carolina Volleyball Holds Off Georgia Southern

Cullowhee, N.C. - Three Lady Catamounts notched double-doubles in WCU's Southern Conference victory over Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon in the Ramsey Center.

Western Carolina started game one strong by jumping out to an 8-2 lead. Georgia Southern fought its way back to 8-5 only to be shut down by the Lady Cats 15-6. The Lady Eagles battled their way back in game two to defeat Western 15-13 as they tallied 15 kills and only seven errors.

WCU put down 60 kills and 15 blocks as a team to roll past Georgia Southern in games three (15-12) and four (15-4).

Freshman Crissi Harrison recorded 13 kills on 21 attempts for a match high hitting percentage of .571. Junior Christy Attebery lead the match with 17 kills and 12 digs while Bri Milan-Williams added 10 digs and 49 assists for the double-double. Also recording a double-double was freshman Pamela Stein with 14 kills and 10 digs. She hit for an impressive .407 with only three errors in the match.

Western Carolina improves to a 4-8 overall record and 2-2 in league play while Georgia Southern falls to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Lady Cats will travel to Wofford Thursday, September 28 for a 7:00 p.m. start.
