Cullowhee, N.C. - On Saturday, Oct. 14, tennis great Luke Jensen will be on the campus of Western Carolina University offering his expertise in a series of clinics at the Catamount Athletic Complex tennis facility. The clinic is presented by the Western Carolina women's tennis team.
Jensen's credentials includes 10 ATP Tour doubles titles and singles victories against some of the top names in the game -- Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, Jimmy Connors, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg and Jim Courier. Luke also teamed with his brother, Murphy, to win the 1993 French Open doubles title.
Nicknamed "Dual Hand Luke" for his for his ambidextrous play, Jensen was named the head coach at Syracuse University back on Aug., 29 of this year.
The tennis clinic will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday the 14th with a parent-child cardio tennis session. Other sessions scheduled for the day include a session geared for adults, one to help juniors develop their stroke, a junior clinic, and adult round-robin play.
The cost of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is $30 for adults 18 years of age and older and $25 for juniors under the age of 18. Western students with a valid Cat Card ID can participate for just $10, with a family rate (three or more) of $20.00 each.
