Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina University women's tennis team will play at the NC State Women's Tennis Fall Invitational in Raleigh, N.C., which is a change from the previous schedule. Teams appearing in this weekend's tournament include Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Davidson, East Carolina, Winthrop, Stetson, Hampton, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, Radford, Western Carolina and host N.C. State. First round singles matches start on Friday, Sept. 13, at 9 am. First round doubles matches start on Friday as well at 2:30 pm. Second round singles matches on Saturday start at 8 am while second round doubles begins at 4:45 pm. Third round matches begin Saturday at noon and final round coverage begins Sunday at 9:45 am.
It has also been announced that junior Shannon Zalinski, a native of Greer, S.C. was named co-captain along with teammate, junior Erin Johnson of Marietta, Ga. Zalinski had an overall record of 4-15 in singles match play last season and a 5-14 record in doubles. Johnson has a 2001-02 overall record of 5-12 in singles and 4-11 in doubles.
