Chris Wollett Named Head Women's Tennis Coach

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina athletics welcomed Chris Wollett as the new Head Coach of the Catamount women's tennis team.

"There is something very special about Western Carolina and I'm extremely excited to have been given this opportunity," Wollett said. "I feel the women's program has a huge amount of potential and I'm focused on bringing Catamount tennis to the next level."

Chris Wollett joins the Catamounts after working at the Country Club of Ocala for the past two years. While at the Country Club of Ocala, he coached several United States Tennis Association (USTA) teams and worked with top junior players including his younger sister, Kim, a four-year starter at Georgia Southern University. Wollett played college tennis for the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., guiding the Eagles to back-to-back Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) titles and participating the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2001 and 2002. Wollett then transferred to the University of North Florida where he earned a degree in International Studies in 2003.

Prior to collegiate competition, Wollett was a top ranked junior in the USTA Florida section. He also won district titles at Forest High School in doubles both as a freshman and sophomore. Wollett is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR).
