Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team opens up Southern Conference action on the road this weekend with matches at Georgia Southern and the College of Charleston. The Catamounts will play the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and challenge the Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The Catamounts (1-1) will be in action for the first time since a heartbreaking, 4-3, loss to Mercer on Feb. 20. WCU opened up the season with a 1-0 record for the first time since 2004 after defeating Brevard College, 6-1, two days earlier.
Georgia Southern (4-4) enters this weekend's competition on a two-match losing skid after falling to Alabama-Birmingham and Georgia State.
On Sunday, the Catamounts will face the College of Charleston. The Cougars (5-4) picked up a pair of wins over Samford and Chattanooga, last weekend, to improve to 2-0 in conference action.
Western Carolina will return home for a non-conference match on Monday with Longwood University. The Lancers enter this weekend 3-2 after dropping a 6-1 decision to UNC Greensboro on Sunday.
