CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team opens up its 2012 schedule on the road in Conway, S.C. at Coastal Carolina University. The match time was originally set for 10 am, but has been moved to 12 pm due to the threat of inclement weather in the Conway area for early Saturday morning.

"We're excited about the upcoming season and building on last fall's momentum," said second year head coach Chris Wollett.

The Catamounts return three from last year's team including junior Karen Jiménez who led WCU in both conference and overall wins with eight and five, respectively. Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz, who was selected as a captain for this year's team, is coming off a fall in which she became just the third Catamount selected to play in an ITA Regional event. Iglesias Díaz was third a season ago in wins for WCU. Fellow senior Katie Barry rounds up the Catamount returners. Freshmen Megan McLinden and Jessica Swan are coming off successful fall showings.

"Our returners are playing smart tennis and our freshmen are eager to compete in their first dual college match. Coastal Carolina is a solid program and I'm excited to see how we match up."

Western Carolina fell to the Chanticleers in its last match back in 2009, falling 6-1 to Coastal Carolina. The series has been an annual event over the past seasons, but weather has been a factor in the past two years with both matches being cancelled due to rain.
