Spartanburg, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team sent three to the semifinals of the main draw of the Wofford Tounament in Spartanburg, S.C.

WCU's Emmy King defeated April Walton of Wingate (6-0, 6-2) and Ashley Cooke of Charleston Southern (6-0, 6-0) to make it to the semifinals of Flight C. King fell to Jacki Deason of Winthrop with scores of 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Shannon Zalinski defeated Kristina Ribicic of USC Spartanburg (6-1, 6-1) and Natasha Lucki of Winthrop (6-1, 6-4). Zalinski fell to Erin Hantske of Wofford (6-4, 6-2) in the semifinal round of Flight B.

Kristin Cotton also made her way to the semifinals by defeating Melissa Burgett of Appalachian State (6-2, 6-3) and Ashley West of UNC Asheville (6-1, 6-0). Cotton fell to Mary Wallace Deberry of Wofford by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 in the semifinals.

Kristin Munn fell in the first round to Appalachian State's Elana Berger (1-6, 6-3, 6-3). She came back to win the consolation round by defeating Allison Able of Wingate (6-4, 6-4) and Paloma Castilla of USC Spartanburg (6-0, 6-1).

Shelby Fitzpatrick defeated Wingate's Allison Able (1-6, 6-3, 6-0) in the first round then fell to Kristine Banks of Wofford (6-1, 6-2) putting her in the consolation round. She defeated Marcella Gonzalez of USC Spartanburg (6-1, 7-5) in the semifinals. The pair did not play the finals.

Erin Johnson fell to Renata Caceras of Winthrop (6-0, 6-0) and Kelly Bryant of Queens (7-5, 6-4) in the second round.
