DAY ONE RESULTS - SOUTHERN INTERCOLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis played just one doubles match Friday, in a rain-soaked day at South Carolina, as day one of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships got off to a soggy start.

The doubles tandem of Trish Hanson and Amanda Massey dropped their opening round match in the B-3 doubles bracket 8-2 to College of Charleston's Ashley Heard and Ashley Swindall. The Catamount twosome will return to the courts on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the consolation bracket.

One round of doubles is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. followed by two rounds of singles. On Sunday, the final round of doubles is set for 8:30 a.m. followed by two rounds of main-draw singles matches and one round of consolation matches.

Western Carolina players scheduled for singles matches will play on Saturday.
