JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Western Carolina women's tennis began action in the ETSU Fall Classic Saturday with the tournament concluding Sunday.

The doubles tandem of Sarah Brinkley and Amanda Massey picked up a victory in the Women's Double A1 bracket defeating Radford's Petra Dajevic and Mia Drobnjak 8-6 to advance to the second round on Sunday. The Catamount duo with face East Tennessee's Whitney Trotter and Andra Voinea.

Brinkley lost the first set 6-0 in the Women's Gold bracket to USC-Upstate's Ana Novo 6-0 and then retired from the match and did not play singles compeition the rest of the weekend.

Izabella Glinska also dropped her singles match, falling to UNCA's Leslie Smith 7-6 (10), 6-0 in the Women's Blue bracket. Yet another Catamount newcomer, Ainhoa Iglesias, fell to Appalachian State's Blakely Bean 6-0, 7-6 (3) in the Pink Bracket.
