Raleigh, N.C. - The threat of looming rain caused NC State Head Coach Hans Olsen and officials to call off the remaining matches scheduled in the NC State Women's Tennis Fall Invitational Saturday afternoon around 12:30 pm. Seven of the 12 matches were completed this morning before a heavy sheet of rain moved across the baseball field and gushed onto the courts of the Wolfpack Tennis Complex to postpone and eventually cancel play.

Play was first ceased around 10:00 a.m. when a sudden down pour scattered players to nearby tents and overhangs. Shortly after noon, it was decided that conditions would not be fit to continue the tournament throughout the weekend.

Shannon Zalinski was on serve in her third game of the first set of the match when they were forced to cease play. Katie Van Ewyk had not yet started her match for the day.

The Lady Cats travel to Johnson City, Tenn., next to appear in the East Tennessee State Invitational Sept. 20-22.
