Greenville, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team lost to the 48th ranked Furman University Lady Paladins Wednesday, 7-0, at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. Western Carolina drops to 6-11 (1-7 SoCon) while the Paladins improve to 17-3 (7-0 SoCon).
In doubles action, in the top spot Shelby Fitzpatrick and Shannon Zalinski fell to Megan Dunigan and Natalie The, 8-0. Emmy King and Kristin Cotton lost to Caroline Bentley and Mary Kovarik, 8-1. The number three seed team of Kristin Munn and Erin Johnson dropped to Gene Holman and Krista Thomson, 8-0. In singles play, the Lady Paladins completed the sweep taking all six matches in straight sets.
The Lady Cats travel to UNC Charlotte Saturday to take on the 49ers at 1:00 pm. Western has one final home match of the season when they host UNC Asheville on April 16. This game was rescheduled from earlier this month.
