Cullowhee, N.C. - After winning in doubles play, the Western Carolina women's tennis team lost all six singles matches to finish the day 6-1 against Davidson at the Western Carolina Reid Gym Courts Friday afternoon. The Lady Catamounts fall to 5-9 (0-5 SoCon) for the season, while the Wildcats improve to 14-4 (4-2 SoCon).
In doubles action, WCU pulled out the upset victory, giving the Catamounts the 1-0 edge. Shelby Fitzpatrick and Shannon Zalinski fell to the twin combination of Kelly and Meghan Fillnow, 8-2. Emmy King and Kristin Cotton won their match against Meggie Patterson and Katherine Hatch, 8-6. And in the three spot, Kristin Munn and Erin Johnson won a tie-breaking thriller, 9-8 (7), beating Yasamine Hilu and Gayle Jones.
In singles play, the Lady Cats dropped all six matches to the Wildcats in straight sets to give Davidson the 6-1 victory. The Catamounts host East Tennessee State this Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 pm at the Reid Gym Courts. This game was rescheduled back in March due to rain.
