WINSTON-SALEM - N.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis (5-9) swept Winston-Salem State (2-13) 7-0 Wednesday at the WSSU Tennis Complex.

The Catamounts swept all five singles matches as Trish Hanson defeated Terese Lavan (6-0, 6-0) to WCU's at No. 1 singles to start the rout.

Western Carolina earned a scoreless sweep at No.2 singles when Amanda Walker was blanked by Susanna Sjokvist in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

The Lady Rams dropped the third, fourth, and fifth singles matches and surrendered a point via default at sixth singles.

The Catamounts earned wins at first and second doubles and secured the doubles point to secure the 7-0 match victory.

The Catamounts returns to action on Saturday when the team hosts Southern Conference member Elon at 1:30 p.m.
