Final Stats

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis (4-8, 0-5 SOCON) fell to Southern Conference rival Georgia Southern (6-7, 3-2 SOCON) 6-1 Sunday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

The Catamounts got a boost in doubles as Trish Hanson and Amanda Massey got a win at No. 1 doubles defeating Georgia Southern's Molly Maddox and Christine Caforio 8-6. Georgia Southern won at No. 1 doubles and an illness on the Catamount's No. 3 doubles team forced the club to forfeit and give Georgia Southern the doubles point.

Hanson also picked up a win at No. 1 singles. She posted a victory over Maddox 6-4, 6-4. Massey went to the tiebreaker with Heather Reynolds, winning the first game 7-4, but dropping game two 6-4 and then the tiebreaker 10-7.

The Catamounts return to action on Wednesday when the team travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on Winston-Salem State. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
