Cullowhee, N.C. - The Lady Catamounts fell to Appalachian State 7-0 Saturday at home. The loss gives Western a 4-6 record overall and an 0-3 record in the Southern Conference.

In doubles play the Mountaineers claimed all three matches for the first point of the afternoon. Anja Gugger and Lyndsey Free defeated Western Carolina's Erin Johnson and Rocio Perez, 8-5, in number one doubles. At the number two position, Katie VanEwyk and Kristin Cotton fell, 8-3. At the number three spot, App State's Salem Kirven and Victoria Moody handed Kristin Munn and Elysa Montgomery an 8-4 loss.

In singles action, Appalachian State won all six matches. Kristin Cotton took her match to a tie-breaker but was edged 10-8.

The Catamounts' next match is scheduled for Sunday, March 21, at 1:30 pm against East Tennessee State at the Reid Gym Courts.
