Women's Tennis Improves To A 4-5 Record

Hilton Head, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team defeated the University of California of Pennsylvania 5-0, Thursday afternoon.

In singles action, Kristin Munn defeated Olga Gonzalez by a score of 6-1. Shelby Fitzpatick won her match 8-2 over Linda Escobedo. Emmy King and Amy Rex also had easy victories over Farah Amer and Jamie Sylvester. King won by a score of 8-0, while Rex dropped only one set to win 8-1.

Doubles play went as quickly for the Lady Cats as the singles. Fitzpatrick and Shannon Zalinski defeated Gunzalez and Escobedo with a score of 8-1. Munn and Erin Johnson did not allow their opponent to score finishing the match 8-0. Rex and King also shut out their opponents Amer and Sylvester with a score of 8-0.
