Hilton Head, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team defeated Dayton 7-0 Wednesday, March 14 at the Port Royal Racket Club in Hilton Head.

In singles play Shelby Fitzpatrick was down 5-1 in the first set and came back and won the set in a tie breaker 7-1. She lost the next set 6-0 and wore her opponent down in the third set taking the 6-2 win. "Fitzpatrick changed her game and frustrated her opponent by hitting a lot of slice and a no pace balls," Head Coach Jan Stubbs. "This was a good win for her and hopefully will boost her confindence."

Kristin Munn came back from being down 4-2 in the second set and out gutted and frustrated Rebecca Stanchin to the end. "Both Shannon Zalinski and Erin Johnson did a good job closing out their matches which is something that only match play can provide," stated Stubbs.
