Hilton Head, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team broke even for the day Tuesday with a 6-1 loss first to Indiana State and a 6-0 defeat of Slippery Rock. The Catamounts are now 3-5 overall for the spring season.

First, versus Indiana State, Rocio Perez and Erin Johnson knocked off Carolina Salinas and Logan Becker, 8-3, in the number one position. However, the final two doubles matches were won by the Sycamores to take the point. Perez picked up the lone singles victory for the Cats with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Magda Narczewska. Both singles matches that went to a third set were played out in a super tie-breaker.

In the second match of the day, Western claimed a 6-0 win over Slippery Rock. (Kristin Munn's singles match versus Jessie Bungo in the number one spot was suspended due to rain. Munn was up one set to nothing at the time the match was called.) Doubles duo Kristin Cotton and Katie VanEwyk won 8-5, while Munn and Elysa Montgomery also won, 8-1, for the first point of the match. Montgomery also additionally won her first ever singles match with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win over SRU's Erika McKenna.
