Charleston, S.C. - Western Carolina dropped their second consecutive Southern Conference match on Sunday morning as the College of Charleston won the contest 7-0. The Catamounts (1-3, 0-2 SoCon) will return home to the Catamount Athletic Complex to host Longwood University at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

The Cougars (5-2, 2-0 SoCon) remain unblemished in conference play as they defeated WCU in all nine sets played. Western Carolina dropped all three doubles matches before falling in the six singles matches.

Freshman Karen Jiménez Sarmiento battled Irene Viana, but fell 4-6, 5-7, in two sets. Izabella Glinska finished one game shy of a win, falling 6-7 in the first set and dropping set two 0-6. Freshman Carolina Lainez, who played in the one spot, retired in set two after falling 0-6 in the first and trailing, 0-3, in the second.

Amanda Massey (0-6, 4-6) and Ainhoa Iglesias Díaz (2-6, 1-6) both dropped their singles points in two and four spots, respectively. Graduate student Emily Turke fell to College of Charleston's Kelly Mulligan in straight sets (0-6, 0-6) to round out singles play.

WCU lost the doubles point as Turke/Glinska could not over an early deficit to Viana/Kinsey Casey, as the Catamounts fell 1-8. Western Carolina dropped the other two doubles matches, 0-8 and 3-8.

The Catamounts return to action on Monday to host the Longwood University Racers. Results of Monday afternoon's match can be accessed online at CatamountSports.com.
