Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's tennis team defeated Eastern Kentucky, 5-2, Friday at the Eastern Kentucky Invitational in Richmond, Kentucky. The win lifts the Catamounts to a 2-3 record for the season.

Picking up the win for WCU was number one seed, Kristin Munn, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (12), number two, Shelly Fitzpatrick, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, number four, Erin Johnson, 5-7, 7-6 (8), 6-3, number five, Emmy King, 6-0, 6-4, and number six, Kristin Cotton, 6-1, 6-2.

The doubles team of Cotton and Johnson picked up the Catamounts' only doubles victory of the weekend by defeating Williams and Perry of EKU, 8-6. The Catamounts go on to face Wright State in day two of the Invitational.
