GREENSBORO, N.C. - Western Carolina tennis was swept today by UNCG in its first conference match of the season as the Spartans picked up its third victory of the season (3-3). The Catamounts fell to 1-2 on the year.

UNCG snuck away with two of the three doubles matches, winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by matching scores of 8-6 with Yurtkuran and Falcon defeating Kissell and Jiménez at No. 2 while Grinberg and Ellis downed Ruiz and Maguire. In the No. 1 match, Wilkins and Whitehead blanked Nielly and Bettiol, 8-0.

In the singles matches, the young Catamounts - featuring just one senior and no sophomores or juniors - failed to pick up more than three points in a set.

In the No. 1 match, the Spartans' Niltooli Wilkins defeated Stacia Kissell, 6-3,6-1 while Dilara Yurtkuran downed Karen Jiménez lost at the No. 2 spot, 6-3,6-3.

Sara Ruiz and Nicole Nielly dropped the No. 3 and No. 4 matches, with Shannon Bettiol and Erin Maguire losing at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

Western Carolina returns to the courts next Saturday for its second SoCon match of 2013 in Birmingham, Ala., against Samford.
