CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's tennis (0-3) dropped its first home match of the season 5-2 to Mercer University (5-3) Saturday at the Catamount Sports Complex.

Mercer won the doubles point to open the match claiming victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. The Western Carolina doubles tandem of Trish Hanson and Tessie Salame picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 singles.

The Catamounts also got a victory at No. 2 singles. Hanson got her second win of the day defeating Mercer's Irys Citko 6-2, 6-1.

Western Carolina will be back in action Sunday at Gardner-Webb. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
