Catamount Softball Assistant Williams Scores Winning Run for Rockford

May 30, 2008

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Earlier in the week, catamountsports.com reported Catamount softball assistant coach Jessica Williams was beginning her third year playing professional softball, with the Rockford Thunder. Williams began her season in dramatic fashion Thursday scoring the game-winning run, in the bottom of the seventh inning, to lead the Thunder to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Bandits.

As reported on the Rockford Thunder website, Rockford catcher Savannah Brown drove in Williams from second base in the bottom of the seventh to end the game. Williams entered the game as a pinch runner after former University of Tennessee standout Tonya Callahan walked to lead off the seventh inning.

Williams' heroics were part of The Morning Coffee blog today at the NCAA's Double-A Zone. Read the note HERE.

Williams and Rockford will be back in action tonight squaring off against Chicago at 6:45 p.m.
