CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina softball (16-30, 6-12 Southern Conference) hosts its final Southern Conference home series this weekend welcoming Georgia Southern (23-23, 9-5 SoCon) to the Catamount Softball Complex. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and a single game on Sunday also at 1p.m.
Western Carolina took one of three games at Elon last weekend. Of the Catamounts six Southern Conference wins, Western Carolina has just one conference win at home. Freshman Taylor Sigmon has consistently paced the team throughout the season and currently has a .281 batting average. She leads the team with seven doubles, ranks second in homeruns (6) and is tied for first in RBI with 23.
After struggling some through the season, senior Jordan Fulton has picked up over the last 10 games. She has a .267 batting average with eight hits, four runs scored, one double and is 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
Jordan Garrett leads the Catamount pitching staff with a 3.34 ERA and has more wins then the other three pitchers combined with 10 victories. She also continues to lead the team and the Southern Conference with 183 strikeouts.
Western Carolina is hosting a Georgia Southern team that has won the last 11 meetings over the Catamounts. The Eagles are on a four-game winning streak including a sweep over Samford.

The Eagles rely heavily on their top pitcher Sarah Purvis who has a 10-11 record, starting 22 games, and has 141 strikeouts. Offensively, Georgia Southern is led by Shelby Morrill who has a .336 batting average with 45 hits, 21 runs scored and 21 RBI.

Senior Jordan Fulton currently ranks second in the record books for runs scored, in a career, with 99 ... She needs 10 runs to take over first place ... Stephanie Beatty (2006-09) holds the career record with 108 ... Fulton is also chasing the hits record as she has 183 career hits and is chasing record of 195 that is also held by Beatty.
Senior Haley Pace moved into second place for homeruns in a career with 22 ... She also has 94 career RBI and needs four to move into second place and six to break the school record for RBI in a career ... The record is 99 held by former Catamount standout Lauren Ross.
