Taylor Sigmon Named North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Taylor Sigmon earns first SoCon student-athlete of the week honor.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Taylor Sigmon, a softball player at Western Carolina, has been named the North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for April 16, the league office announced Wednesday.

Sigmon is a sophomore communication sciences major from Catawba, N.C., and holds a 3.98 GPA. Sigmon picked up two saves against UNCG on Saturday in 3-1 and 5-4 wins. She tossed a scoreless seventh inning in the opening game of the series, striking out two of the four batters she faced. In game two, she threw three innings, striking out three and allowing just two hits. At the plate, Sigmon scored three runs and picked up a hit and an RBI. Sigmon has six saves on the season, the most in the NCAA.
