Softball Mid-week Games Canceled

Jordan Garrett became the first Catamount pitcher to go over 500 career strikeouts.

Catamount softball's Tuesday and Wednesday doubleheaders at Gardner-Webb and North Carolina Central have been canceled due to inclement weather. Western Carolina will return to action April 23 with a doubleheader at Winthrop.

  • Sophomore relief pitcher, and starting first baseman, Taylor Sigmon's six saves in the 2014 season leads the nation as well as the SoCon ... Her six saves, this season and in her career, also leads Western Carolina both for the season and the career in the Catamount record books.
  • rn Carolina snapped a seven game losing streak to UNCG with the doubleheader sweep of the SoCon opponnent on Saturday ... It was the first time this season the Catamounts have won a doubleheader on the road ... It was also the third SoCon series WCU has taken in 2014.
  • After matching the season best of 14 straight games reaching base, with teammate Kara Salvo, freshman Courtney Price is at it game having reached base safeily in the last four games.
  • Senior right fielder Amelia Griffin is currently tied for first in the Western Carolina record books for stolen bases in a career with 49 ... She needs one to break the record set by former teammate Jordan Fulton.
