CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina softball (13-25, 3-9 Southern Conference) heads on the road this weekend for a three-game Southern Conference series at Furman (18-15, 6-5 SoCon). The doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. Saturday and the single game is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Catamounts are coming off their first doubleheader sweep of the season defeating Gardner-Webb 8-7, 8-1. Furman split a twin-bill with Georgia State winning the first game 6-2 and dropping the second game 3-1.

Softball Drops Final Game of Series with Furman, 7-3
Western Carolina softball (13-22, 3-6 Southern Conference) dropped the final game of the three-game series with Furman (13-22, 4-8 SoCon) 7-3 Sunday at the Softball Complex. The Catamounts took the series, however, thanks to the doubleheader sweep of the Paladins on Saturday.
Western Carolina hit five homeruns in its doubleheader against Gardner-Webb. Sophomore Heather Chastain
had two homeruns in the pair of games, one in each, and currently leads the team with seven this season. Chastain also tops the team in RBI with 22.
Western Carolina is 2-1 in Southern Conference road games while Furman is 5-1 in Southern Conference home games.
Sophomore pitcher Jordan Garrett continues to lead the Southern Conference in strikeouts with 163. She also ranks 46th in the nation for strikeouts per seven innings with 8.3.
Senior Haley Pace is currently riding a six-game hitting streak. She is also chasing the Western Carolina career RBI record as she currently has 92 and needs eight to break the school record of 99.
Furman's Ambree Muller leads the Paladins with a .350 batting average and also is tied for the lead on the team in homeruns with six. Natalie Clemmons tops the team in RBI with 30.
