CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina softball travels to Gainesville, Fla. February 15-17 to participate in the Lipton Florida Invitational hosted by No. 5 University of Florida.
The Catamounts meet host Florida for the first time in the two school's history and this is the first time this season Western Carolina will face a Top-25 opponent. It will also be the inaugural meeting between WCU and Charleston Southern while the Catamounts have faced UNC Wilmington eight times with the two schools knotted at 4-4.

The Catamounts were 2-2 at the Subway Upstate Classic Feb. 8-10. Senior shortstop Shemekia Scotton and junior left fielder Amelia Griffin paced the team with batting averages of .583 and .500 respectively. Scotton and Griffin each had seven hits in four games and Scotton had four extra bases hits, three doubles and a triple.
Sophomore pitcher Jordan Garrett tossed the lion share of the tournament making three appearances and starting one, with a record of 1-2. She had 18 strikeouts in three appearances, tying her game-high of 12 in the 5-4 win over Maine.
