ATHENS, Ga. - Western Carolina softball (0-3) lost to No. 6 Georgia 18-0, in five innings, Saturday in the second day of the Red and Black Showcase. The Catamounts face Winthrop at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in the final day of the tournament.

The Bulldogs scored multiple runs in all four innings with two in the first, five in the second and third and six in the fourth. Georgia had six multiple base hits with three doubles and three homeruns.

The Catamounts had four hits in the game with two coming from senior catcher Danielle Reese who went 2-for-3. Amber Hawkins and Kristen Gay each had a hit.

Western Carolina Sophomore pitcher Katie King started the game, going two innings, and took the loss, falling to 0-2. Pitchers Chere Monday and Bekah Burkett combined to close out the game.
