GREENVILLE, S.C. - Western Carolina women's soccer, the number eight seed in the tournament, will travel to Greenville, S.C. Sunday face No. 1 seed Furman at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championships.
The Catamounts earned a berth in the championships by defeating Appalachian State, who is a No. 6 seed, 1-0 Oct. 30. It is the Catamounts first appearance in the tournament since 2011 when the Catamounts were a No. 8 seed and lost to No. 1 seed Samford 2-1.

Western Carolina's 10 wins this season are the most since the Catamounts had 13 in 2008, the year WCU won the Southern Conference Tournament.
The victory over Appalachian State was the first conference victory at home this season.
Western Carolina's last appearance in the SoCon Tournament was 2011 when the Catamounts fell at Samford, as the No. 8 seed, 2-1.
Western Carolina is 5-6 in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championships.
