CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's soccer (5-4-1, 0-2 Southern Conference) hits the road this weekend for a two-game Southern Conference road swing. The Catamounts will travel to Davidson (2-6-3, 1-1-0 SoCon) for a 7 p.m. match on Friday and to Georgia Southern (2-5-2, 1-0-1 SCon) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Suffering from a two-game losing slide, the Catamounts are looking to get back in the win column and snag its first win in the Southern Conference. The Catamounts are 2-2 in road games this season winning its last road game defeating Mercer 2-0 on Sept. 20.
Sophomore forward Kelly Pannell continues to lead the Catamounts with four goals and three assists. She also tops the team with 11 points. Fellow forward, junior Caitlyn Bradham, is close behind Pannell with three goals and has scored two of the last three goals for the team.
Davidson leads the overall series 9-5-1 against Western Carolina and won the last two meetings. The Wildcats went 1-1 in its opening SoCon weekend defeating Chattanooga 3-2 and falling to Samford 3-0. WCU's Pannell and Bradham, who have seven goals between them, combine for more goals then the entire Davidson team who has five this season.
On Sunday, Western Carolina travels to Georgia Southern who went 1-0-1 last weekend in the SoCon. The Eagles defeated Chattanooga 2-1 on September 29 and are paced by Jennifer Wittick who has three goals.
Overall, Western Carolina's goal production eclipses both of its opponents this weekend. The Catamounts have 13 goals as a team. Davidson has five team goals and Georgia Southern has seven.
