Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Western Carolina fell to Middle Tennessee State Sunday afternoon, 2-0 in the final match of the MTSU soccer tournament. Western Carolina falls to 0-2-1 on the season, and MTSU improves to 3-0.

Middle Tennessee State got on the board in the 27th minute of the first half, when Claire Ward slipped one passed Catamount goalkeeper Tina Weaver off of a rebound. MTSU added another goal in the 80th minute of the second half, as Laura Miguez headed the ball in off of a corner kick.

The Catamounts allowed 24 shots by MTSU, and goalkeeper Tina Weaver recorded eight saves. The Cats offensive leaders were Jordan Howell and Lauren Bramlett with two and three shots respectively. Howell and Megan Chambers also recorded one shot on goal.

Western Carolina will return to action this Friday, September 12 at Elon University. The game is slated to start at 4 pm.
